Kaleidoscope STRING BAND A Kaleidoscope of Musical Enjoyment |
Who we are ...
|
|
|
The Kaleidoscope STRING
BAND gets its name from its music.
Our goal is to make music that fits the occasion, whether it's a contradance,
a reception, a St. Patrick's Day observance, a wedding, a jam session
with friends, ... whatever. We strive for a blend of tunes that are
already familiar and new tunes you'll want to hear again. The music
includes American "old-time," French Canadian, Celtic, and
jazz-based tunes, with a liberal sprinkling of tunes from current writers,
including present and past members of band. Kaleidoscope's
core is Katrina and Chuck Weber, frequently joined by one or more other
musicians on fiddle, mandolin, guitar and other instruments.
In "the other world" Katrina is an artist, working in oils, watercolors, and pastels. Her works are in private and corporate collections across the U.S., and she has exhibited at various galleries in the Southeast (see the Art part of this website). Beginning in 1974, Chuck worked as a county forester in Florida and Alabama; in 1985 he became the municipal forester for the City of Huntsville, Alabama -- the state's first city forester -- retiring at the end of 2005 (see Trees). |
